A Year with Josh Clemens

Josh Clemens always has something going, between working, riding, traveling, filming, living, laughing and everything else in between it’s impossible to keep up with it all. So I thought it was a perfect time to catch up with Josh and ask a few quick questions about his year and what else he has got lined up on the horizon. So click on the post and check out A Year with Josh Clemens.

So you’ve been having a pretty busy year! Seems like things your always working on something new or filming someone doing something crazy or working on something, What has been the most memorable moment so far of 2014?

There have so many memorable moments of this year, but probably the most recent one would be Texas Toast and Nora Cup. Just for the fact that it’s like a huge bmx community reunion/party and getting to see all my friends in one place at the same time is the best thing ever.

What was the biggest change in your life this year and why?

The biggest change in my life this year is probably just living on my own in a place that I love and working at 180 Dist. Everything seemed to work out so good recently, it’s awesome. Getting an apartment in Long Beach with Broc is something that we had talked about forever and finally made it happen. Working at 180 is like a dream job, getting to work for a BMX company (and let alone, ride for them) is something I always dreamed of before I moved to California. I never would have imagined it would have worked out so good and happened so quickly. I cant thank Brian, La, Matt, Kevin, Bogi, and Sho for welcoming me into the 180dist family so openly.

Your frame sponsor Volume Bikes is working on their latest DVD, the finer things, what has your involvement been in that?

I’m honestly so thankful on how much Mastroni has let me be involved with DVD, I cant thank him enough for letting me help out so much, its awesome. Considering that I started riding for Volume only about 4 months ago, I figured I wouldn’t have much time to film and really be involved but everyone has welcomed me into the team more than I would have ever imagined. We are all pretty much best friends and it’s awesome. I’m also really stoked on how much Mike has let me get behind the camera and film him, it’s a true honor. With all that being said, I’m so stoked to see the final product!!

I’ve seen you with a camera out a few times filmin, have you filmed for long and has that always been an interest of yours?

I have actually been into filming/editing for a long time, pretty much as long as I actually started getting into riding. It’s always been a hobby of mine. I feel like it comes hand in hand with riding. You go out with your friends, bring the camera and it just goes from there… Mike has been a big influence on me wanting to film/ride and motivated me to start filming more lately. I always thought it was cool how someone can ride and film. I feel like it opens your mind up more when you can look at a spot from a filmer’s and a rider’s perspective. I think after The Finer Things DVD is done, I’m going to start working a little web video project with my friends.

How did you get into that and have you been working on anything?

I think after The Finer Things DVD is done, I’m going to start working on a little web video project with my friends. I just want to start filming more, so I guess I’ll see what happens.

It seems like every time I see you you’re doing something new on your bike, how do you feel about how you’ve been riding lately?

I feel like now a days, (when it comes to riding and filming) everyone is too focused on learning some crazy trick and that’s it. Not making it look good and not taking the time to find a correct spot to perfect that trick and make it look the best they can. Lately, I’ve just been trying to take my riding a little more simple and do the stuff that feels good to me and try to make it look the best I can.

Do you have anything planned that you’re excited about for the rest of 2014?

I don’t have any big plans so far, but I’m just stoked to keep riding my bike and living by the beach. It’s a dream come true! I’m actually pretty excited to for the “winter” season here. I might be able to wear a jacket! Haha, the simple things are my favorite.

What are your thoughts/plans/goals or whatever for 2015? do you have any travel plans or projects setup?

As of right now, I don’t have any big plans or trips in the works but that could change at any minute, I never know.
